DISCOVER HANS MUSTERS
A comparison with the paintings of Hans Musters is almost impossible to make. Partly because of this his work acquired a place of honor in contemporary painting. The paintings of Hans Musters have a wonderful mix of opposites which together seem perfectly natural and balanced. So are traditional forms and subjects often the starting point for his work, whereupon his imagination and sense of drama and theater take over and determine the final imagery. Out of thick coats of paint and many dynamic fields of color, scenes originate which overwhelm and at the same time radiate a pleasant feeling of tranquility. The paintings of Hans Musters are almost abstract. Only a small detail often defines the figuration of the image. An unexpected accent or color field often seems to stand alone, but on second thought is essential to the whole. Unsurpassed is its color palette.
Hans Musters is a master at combining the most diverse and contrasting colors into one harmonious whole. The skill and the apparent ease with which Hans merges the many influences in his work determine the strength and appeal of his work. Here the leading role is not played by the subject but the rich and warm feeling of well-being which his paintings radiate.
Hans Musters studied at the Academy Minerva in Groningen, The Netherlands.
