MORE THAN REALITY
ULTIMATE REALISM
DISCOVER HERMAN TULP
Herman Tulp (1955) is an incredible painter who is best known for his intimate, nostalgic still lifes. However, he has many subject to his repertoire such as landscapes, houses, cows, trains and models all characterized by his very own style of painting. Clear and realistic, sober but colored and often provided with magic-realistic elements. However, in recent years his paintings of women increasingly step to the forefront.
An endless source of inspiration for Herman Tulp, wherein the previously in abundance present symbolism and surrealist tone now are subordinate to the light, atmosphere and composition. His female nudes are beautiful, aesthetically pleasing and a bit romantic. Vulnerable, yet strong. They are set in landscapes or spaces where time has left its mark and there is always an element present that refers to light in the form of a window or door.
Herman Tulp studied at the academy Minerva in Groningen, The Netherlands.
