BEAUTY IN PERFECTION

DISCOVER MARLIES HEYLMANN

Beauty in its purest form is what Marlies Heylmann (1954) depcts As one of the few sculptors she has mastered the traditional craftsmanship and the passion to chop realistic shapes out of stone. From her sense she makes human torsos in highly simplified, smooth, round forms that are being finished perfectionist. Every curve and structure in a sculpture of Marlies Heylmann is essential and determines the powerful sensual appeal.

Modest and sophisticated female figures, though strikingly present. Sometimes they are introverted and they give the viewer a warm feeling of security and a welcome opportunity to dream. Another time they expose themselves, full of pride and devotion, to the outside world. Always, however, they radiate from the great care and love with which Marlies Heylmann let them come to life. Also, when she decides to carry out a unique stone sculpture in bronze. Both in stone and bronze she polishes her sculptures until they have an extremely smooth and shiny surface. For her bronze she uses beautiful patina that have deceptive resemblance to a stone structure. It is therefore not surprising that the sculptures of Marlies Heylmann are now widely appreciated and are included in the collections of many collectors.

Marlies Heylmann followed her training drawing in Amsterdam and design in Haarlem, The Netherlands.
